Street Child Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) was founded in 2010 by Paul Semeh. The organisation is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating street-connected children in Accra. With over 60,000 street-connected children identified in Accra alone, SCEF's work is crucial in providing vulnerable children with opportunities for education, safety, and support. The organisation offers a variety of programs, including after-school support, health services, and basic literacy programs, all aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.
SCEF's mission aligns closely withStreetSmart’s opportunity-oriented focus in empowering street-connected youth. By introducing the mobile school program in collaboration with StreetSmart,SCEF aims to expand its reach, providing non-formal education to even more children in the community of Jamestown.

During the visit, the SCEF team –along with three colleagues from the Centre for Initiative Against HumanTrafficking (CIAHT) in Tamale – participated in four workshops and identified several locations where they could deploy mobile school activities in the future. Since the SCEF Centre is centrally located in the Jamestown community, the team highlighted numerous potential sites where the mobile school could beset up to create a playful learning environment directly within the community.

Both SCEF and StreetSmart are very excited about the potential impact this partnership could have. In the coming months, both teams will work on the action items that emerged from the exploratory visit to determine if the mobile school project can take off towards the end of 2025 or the start of 2026.
